CAROL SMITS
Founder & CEO
As the Founder and CEO of Interiors On Madison and Designs of the Times, Carol brings more than 30 years of experience in the world of art and design. With a degree in interior design, a background as an artist, and experience teaching design at the college level, she has built a career grounded in creativity, craftsmanship, and thoughtful vision.
Guided by that vision, Carol has expanded her work into custom furniture, tables, and her own exclusive collection, Carol Smits Signature Designs, handcrafted in collaboration with local woodworking artisans. Her full‑service interior design studio features a beautifully curated showroom showcasing furniture, rugs, drapery, accessories, and more.
Supported by a dedicated team of designers, Carol focuses on understanding each client’s unique needs and creating spaces that reflect their lifestyle with beauty, intention, and timeless design.

DENNIS SMITS
Co-owner & Installation Specialist
As COO and owner, Dennis brings a strong academic and professional foundation to the company. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh and a master’s degree in education from Viterbo College. His background includes extensive experience in teaching, finance, business management, nonprofit development, and construction.
Dennis currently serves on the Board of Directors for NARI (North American Remodeling Industry) of Northeast Wisconsin. In addition to leading the company, he is actively involved in project management, coordinating with subcontractors, overseeing construction operations, and guiding both commercial and residential remodeling projects.
He is also a certified installation specialist for blinds, shades, and window treatments, bringing hands‑on expertise to every aspect of the business
RANDI KASTEN
Interior Designer
With a degree in interior design, Randi brings a refined eye for color and a natural passion for drawing and creative expression. She finds her greatest fulfillment in guiding a project from its earliest concept to its final transformation, creating homes that feel deeply personal, comfortable, and beautifully lived‑in. Randi has a particular love for textiles and furniture, thoughtfully considering how texture, form, and material work together to shape spaces that are both inviting and intentional. She is especially drawn to the visual side of the design process, using hand drawings, 3‑D renderings, and detailed layouts to help clients clearly understand and connect with the overall vision.
She also specializes in window treatments, working extensively with blinds, shades, and fabrics to achieve the ideal balance of light, privacy, and style.
Outside of work, Randi is happiest on the water, around a campfire, or spending time with friends.
QUIANNA NEJEDLO
Interior Designer
With a degree in Kitchen and Bath Design, Quianna has grown into a skilled designer with a passion for helping clients bring their homes to life. She specializes in kitchen and bath design, remodels, and new construction, creating detailed floorplans and 3‑D renderings that help clients clearly visualize their space with confidence.
She works closely with clients from concept through selections, including cabinetry, countertops, tile, and plumbing fixtures. She also has a strong passion for taking projects through to completion, thoughtfully guiding choices in furniture, lighting, window treatments, and wall finishes to ensure every element contributes to a cohesive and intentional design.
Known for her strong communication and approachable style, Quianna is dedicated to creating spaces that feel beautiful, functional, and truly personal.
Outside of work, she enjoys exploring new coffee and brunch spots, spending time outdoors, golfing, and being with friends.
KIM VAN-THIEL
Interior Designer
With a degree in interior design and long‑standing roots in the Fox Valley, Kim is especially passionate about the transformative power of color and how it can bring a space to life. She is known for her respectful, collaborative style and her commitment to guiding clients through each step of the design process with clarity and care.
With more than 20 years of experience — including a background as a small business owner — Kim brings deep expertise and a thoughtful, client‑centered approach to every project. She specializes in color selection, space planning, and window treatments, with a strong focus on creating functional, beautifully balanced interiors.
CARAH
Associate Interior Designer
Carah is a student at Fox Valley Technical College and an energetic, essential part of our daily operations. She brings natural talent and an intuitive eye for design, already demonstrating strong knowledge in window treatments, blinds, shades, and installation.
Currently pursuing her degree in Interior Design as well as Kitchen and Bath Design, Carah supports the entire Interiors On Madison team with a wide range of ongoing projects. Her enthusiasm, willingness to learn, and growing skill set make her a valuable member of our design studio.
